Catherine Rebecca Crist Frebert, 87, from Hickory, NC and formerly from Lincolnton, NC, passed into her eternal rest with our Lord on May 23, 2013. She died at home after a battle with cancer. She was the wife of the late John Frebert. Mrs. Frebert was born in Timberville, VA and was the daughter of Lucy Thompson Crist Beam and Lee D. Crist.
She was the mother of 8 children, 16 grandchildren, 31 great- grandchildren and 9 great-great-grandchildren. A loving mother, Mrs. Frebert is survived by 7 children: Becky Lain of Cookeville, TN; Kathy Mayne of Mt. Airy, MD; Irene Wallace of New Windsor, MD; Jeannette Rippeon of Vale, NC; Sharon Fisher of Knoxville, TN; Diane Blizzard of Hickory, NC; and David Frebert of Port Deposit, MD.
She was preceded in death by one son, Wayne Frebert. Besides being a homemaker, Mrs. Frebert was a Tupperware Dealer for 14 years.
She loved music and began singing as a child. She performed in community choral groups and in church choirs into her 80s. She was fun loving, humorous and loved to play Wii bowling. She enjoyed spending time with her friends at Pinecrest, a retirement community where she lived, and was actively involved in all activities there.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 26, 2013 at 2:00 pm til 3:45 pm with a memorial service at 4:00 pm at the Hickory First Assembly of God Church located at 1301 12th St Dr NW Hickory, NC 28601.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in her memory to Catawba Regional Hospice 3975 Robinson Rd Newton, NC 28658.
