Richard Allen Swink, 69, of Salisbury, NC passed away on Wednesday, September 18, 2013 at his residence surrounded by his family. He was born on October 30, 1943 in China Grove, NC to the late John Lawrence Swink and Beatrice “Bea” Albright Swink.
Mr. Swink was a 1962 Graduate of South Rowan High School and received an Associates Degree from Wingate College in Wingate, NC. He retired from Lowe’s Companies, Inc. in North Wilkesboro, NC.
Mr. Swink was a member of Milford Hills Baptist Church and a member with the North Salisbury Gideon Camp of The Gideons International.
Mr. Swink is survived by his wife, Brenda Harkey Swink, whom he married on July 24, 1965; two sons, Dwaine Swink and wife Dawn of Mooresville, NC, and Quinn Swink and wife Lori of Woodleaf, NC; two grandsons, Austin Swink and Garrin Swink, and brother, Larry L. Swink and wife Hazel of Salisbury, NC.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, September 21, 2013 at 6:00 PM at Milford Hills Baptist Church, (1238 E. Colonial Drive, Salisbury, NC 28144) conducted by Rev. Wayne Trexler and Rev. Jerry Allen. The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Gideons International, Salisbury North Camp, P.O.Box 576, Salisbury, NC 28145-0576, or to The JESUS Film Project, P.O. Box 628222, Orlando FL, 32862-8222.

Gayle and I were so saddened to learn of Allen’s passing. Allen was always such a fun and happy guy. . . always giving his all. We have many happy memories of some of the trips we were able to travel on with you and Allen. He will be missed here, but we are comforted that Allen is now receiving God’s promises in Heaven. Mr. Allen who always made us feel so welcome…His smile was infecious.. his love for God and the work of God was always evident in his talk and his walk within the church and everywhere he went.

Allen and Brenda were my neighbors in the early 70’s in N. Wilkesboro. They were the greatest neighbors anyone could ask for and it was the best times of my life. Brenda my thoughts go out to you, Dwaine, and Quinn. He was a great guy and will be missed. RIP Al.

Allen was truly a wonderful friend and we will always remember his great smile and laughter. We enjoyed so much being with Allen and Brenda during the Lowe’s years. We always had such great fun being together at each others homes and on trips. Our heartfelt prayers are with Brenda and family.
