Blain William Whittington Jr., 66, of Salisbury, NC passed away on November 29, 2013 at his residence surrounded by family. Mr. Whittington was born on July 13, 1947 in Cabarrus County to the late Mr. Blain William Whittington and Ella Harrelson Whittington. Blain proudly served his country in the United States Army.
He owned and operated his own Wrecker and Towing service. He enjoyed scrapping cars, fishing, watching baseball, and anything that involved being outdoors. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Judy Farrell Whittington who passed away in 2011.
He is survived by his sister, Melissa Whittington Heustess and husband Thomas of Darlington, SC, and Alice Green and husband Dean of Concord; neices, Mary S. McClain of Salisbury, Cassandra Shue of Salisbury, Sarah Nichol Burgess of Tennessee, and Karen Morgan of Salisbury; nephews, Flavel “Gabby” Smith II and wife Tina of Salisbury, and Byrond “Hut” Smith and wife Kendra of Salisbury, and numerous great nieces and nephews.
There will be graveside service at the Salisbury National Cemetery in Salisbury, NC on Tuesday December 3, 2013 at 1:00 PM with Military Honors provided by The Rowan County Veterans Honor Guard. The family will receive friends at the home the remainder of the time.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Carolina Cremation, Salisbury, NC.
