Loretta Kluttz Eagle, 80, of Salisbury, NC passed away on Wednesday, Jan 15, 2014 at The Lutheran Home at Trinity Oaks after a brief illness with her husband, family, and friends by her side. Mrs. Eagle was born Oct 13th, 1933 in Rowan County, the daughter of the late Carl Lee and Myrtle Kluttz.
Mrs. Eagle was a graduate of Granite Quarry High School, Class of 1952, where she was an All County Basketball Player. She also graduated from Lenoir Rhyne College of Business with a Secretary/Clerical degree. She retired after 30 years of working with Rusher Oil. She was a member of Union Lutheran Church, Good Timers and Anna Petrea Circle Group. She was also a member of the Salisbury Elks Lodge #699 and of the American Legion Auxiliary at the Harold B Jarrett Legion Post #342.
Preceding her in death was a son, John Jeffrey “Jeff” Eagle, a daughter, Francee Eagle Barber and a sister, Mary Evelyn Kluttz Smith.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 58 years, John F “Johnny” Eagle, a sister, Betty K Miller of Hickory, NC; Shellie Eagle Stubbs and her husband, Rob; a granddaughter Karlee Lynn Eagle; a niece, Billie Jean Miller of Charlotte, NC; a niece, Rae Eagle of Charlotte, NC; a niece, Kim Howard and her husband, Jeff of Atlanta, GA; a niece, Lisa Smith Anderson, and two nephews, John and David Smith, all of Virginia.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, January 18, 2014 at the Union Lutheran Church, 4770 Bringle Ferry Rd in Salisbury, NC 28146 with Pastor David W. Nuottila officiating. The family will receive friends immediately after the service in the church’s fellowship hall. The family will also be at the home of Shellie and Rob Stubbs, 4030 Fish Pond Rd in Salisbury, NC 28146.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mrs. Eagle’s memory to the Union Lutheran Church at the above address for the playground fund. This playground was built and dedicated in her son Jeff’s name and memory.

My thoughts are with you, John and you know how much I loved Loretta, we go back a long long way, we shared so many beautiful, fun times together, such a beautiful, energetic, loving person to be with. We sat next to each other in the first grade – through graduation.
