Mary Adams Cheville, 90, of Charlotte, NC passed away on October 28, 2014 at her home surrounded by family. Mary was born on March 21, 1924 in Laurinburg, NC to the late John Marvin Adams and Mary Edens Adams.
Mary worked as a civilian for the United States Navy where she met her husband of 69 years Edward. After her work with the Navy she worked as a librarian, a computer operator for the family accounting firm and also made a career in sales for Lebos.
Mary cared for others and it showed in her volunteer work as a scout leader, a Sunday school teacher, and with the ladies auxiliary at the local hospital. She was a faithful church member, an avid reader, and loved to work in her garden. Most of all, she loved her family and was a wonderful mother and homemaker.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sisters, Jackie Kornegay and Sarah Stansel.
Mary is survived by her husband, Edward Cheville of Charlotte; a son, Terry Cheville of Charlotte; a daughter, Beverly Cheville of Charlotte; grandchildren, Donald and Jonathan; and many nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday November 4, 2014 at 3:00 PM at Central United Methodist Church (6030 Albemarle Rd., Charlotte NC, 28212).
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Central United Methodist Church in her honor (6030 Albemarle Rd., Charlotte NC, 28212).
