Gene Moody Clayton, 67, of Cleveland, passed away on November 5, 2014. Mr. Clayton was born on April 23, 1947 in Stanly County to the late Daniel Moody Clayton and Virginia Ridenhour Clayton.
Gene worked as a truck driver for Lane Construction and was a very self sufficient man. He enjoyed working on cars, going fishing, and liked anything that went fast. Gene loved spending time with his friends and family and was always making everyone laugh.
He is survived by his son, Daniel Moody Clayton of Stanly County; two brothers, Mickey Clayton and wife Sharon of Cabarrus County, and Horace Clayton and wife Linda of Mecklenburg County; a sister, Sue Fort of Stanly County; a grandson, 8 year old Zackery Hunter Clayton “Big Block”; and his girlfriend and companion, Freida Locklear of Cleveland.
There will be a Celebration of Life on Saturday November 15, 2014 at 1:00 PM at Freedom Holiness Church, 20244 US 52 Hwy S Albemarle NC 28001, conducted by Pastor Brian Harris. The family will receive friends following the service at Freedom Holiness Church in Norwood.

so sorry to hear bout gene,we r Columbus parents,when he came up here with Columbus he always made u laugh,he said Columbus was a good friend & son to him,our prayers go out to the family

Sorry to hear of Gene passing. I learned a lot watching and helping him mechanic at Auto Supply in Albemarle in the late 70’s and early 80’s when Jerry Hinson(Pepsi) owned the business. I have a lot of good memories from hanging out with them there. Action Jackson
