Margaret Adelaide Harris Eckrote, 91 of Rockwell passed away on Friday, March 6, 2015 at her home surrounded by her family. Margaret was born on April 21, 1923 in Richmond, VA, a daughter of the late Franklin Iver and Rosa Stephens Harris.
Margaret was educated in the Richmond School System. She worked for F.W. Woolworth as a personnel manager. Margaret was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness. She enjoyed cooking, gardening and bird watching; she loved family gatherings being with her family.
In addition to her parents, Margaret is preceded in death by her husband James Alonzo Eckrote; son, Richard Lee Eckrote; brothers, Aubrey and Calvin Harris; and sister, Mildred Saunders.
Margaret is survived by her sons, Lamont Richard Eckrote and wife Cindy of Rockwell; and Lawney James Eckrote and wife Judy of PA. Brother, Franklin Harris, Jr. and wife Barbara of Mataponi, VA; sister-in-law, Mary Harris of Richmond, VA. Margaret is survived by a special granddaughter, Cheryl E. Russell who lived with her and cared for her for many years. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.
There will be a Memorial Service on Saturday, March 14, 2015 at 3:00 PM at the Kingdom Hall of Johovah’s Witness in Salisbury, conducted by Guy Womble.
