Robert “Bob” Glenn Frankwick, 75, of Concord, NC passed away on Friday May 15, 2015 at the Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis, NC. Mr. Frankwick was born on September 07, 1939 in Marshfield, Wisconsin to the late Glenn Frankwick and Margaret Krainz.
Bob worked in Insurance for many years before moving into banking and before retiring. He was a member of Tall Clubs International and received the Tall Clubs International Lifetime Achievement Award in 1998 for recognition of his outstanding achievements. The College Scholarship Fund was especially dear to his heart. Bob enjoyed fishing, being outdoors, going to theaters, and was a science and history buff. He took great pride in his home in Concord and cabin in the mountains. Both of which were certified Natural Backyard Wildlife Habitats for birds and small animals.
He and his wife were blessed to travel the world and always made it a point to go to the museums of the area. He was also a NASCAR fan.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a step-father, John Dale; a brother, Jimmy Frankwick; a sister, Joanne Frankwick; and a brother-in-law, Bob Tockstein.
He is survived by his wife of 16 years, Leslie Frankwick of Concord; a son, Kenneth Frankwick and wife Karen Kenny of Vannuys, CA; a daughter, Dr. Dawn Frankwick and husband Samuel Zeiler of Seattle, WA; a sister, Rose Anne Tockstein of Sun City, AZ; grandchildren, Sean Frankwick, Neil Frankwick, Ryan Woodlock, Connor Woodlock, Alyssa Woodlock, Reagan Wallace, and Tyler Wallace; and a niece, Monika Figueiredo and husband JC of New Jersey.
Bob was also very proud his grandchildren, Sean and Neil who achieved Eagle Scouts status. He proudly displayed the bumper sticker Ken and Karen gave him, on his truck saying, “I’m proud of my Eagle Scouts”. He always said he moved from California to be with Leslie in New Jersey and when Ryan was born, they moved to No. Carolina. He closely followed Connor and Alyssa’s basketball games and Reagan’s volleyball tournaments. He and Tyler shared their mutual love of NASCAR and anything scientific. Finally, his cat Boots is wondering when the big fella with the warm lap is coming home.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date in June.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Tall Clubs International Fund, c/o Sheila Koster, Treasurer, 17354 Sunburst Street, Northridge California 91305

Dear Frankwick family,
I was sorry to hear of Bob’s passing. He and my sister Leslie had great times traveling together. I was also grateful he was able to come out to my Lakehouse in Kansas, he helped teach my brother Billy and I how real “Catfishing” was done! I’m sure Bob is telling the Lord right now that he needs to bait thee hook better!
Sincerely, Sam

Although we had only known Bob for a little over a year, we appreciated his sense of humor. I fondly recall him showing up at the Flairs’ Holiday Party with bells pinned to his backside in the spirit of a familiar holiday tune – “Bells on Bob’s Tail Ring.” He got many laughs that night! He also kindly picked up hundreds of pine cones from his backyard to provide me for a holiday craft project. We’ll miss you Bob! All of Leslie’s friends will look over her for you.
Sincerely,
Dawn & Bill Metcalf

I had only had the chance to be with Bob a few times but enjoyed those few times. Real men DO play Bunco. I am thankful that I had the chance to know him. Peace to you Leslie.

When someone we love dies, it leaves a hole in our hearts. This sorrow was felt by Jesus, Mary and Martha when Lazarus their brother died. Jesus said to Martha: “I am the resurrection and the life, the one who exercises faith in me even though he dies, will come to life. Did I not tell you that if you would believe you would see the glory of God?” Then he proceeded to resurrect Lazarus and he promises to resurrect all those in the memorial tombs. Please read John 5:28, 29 in your Bible and may this hope bring your family comfort.

Leslie and Family, I too only had a short time to know Bob and smile when I think of him at the Christmas party with his bells on. I hope that he and Bruce are up there having great times fishing together! You are in my thoughts and prayers and hope to see you soon.

Bob and I met at an outdoor B ball hoop in the winter of ’54. We became buds and did everything together. Fishing, hunting and chasing young women in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin. He purchased an automobile at age 15 from his earnings at the local Shell gas station. At age 16, I would show up at his home with my Ford and his mom, would allow us to take his auto for a spin, if I drove. Yes, I drove for one block north to Blue Mound Road, stopped and Bob took the wheel. We were together when he met Dawn and Ken’s mom and we went to the their christenings. Bob was tenacious. When fishing he would say “Just a little longer” when I would suggest we quit and go home. When Maureen and I were newly weds, “a little longer,” worked out to 24 hours on Lake Winnebago and sunrise services at Little Green. My bride Maureen called the sheriff’s department to look for us. Bob was a great guy. We worked together. Every now and then, someone crosses your path and you think about that person forever. Sir Robert was the head of my list. Ralph

We will always remember Bob at the Holiday party with his bells on. We were also honored to celebrate Bob’s birthday at Bunco with the great cake you succeeded in hiding from him. We will miss him and know you are in our prayers. Hugs to you.

Leslie:
What a great tribute to the “Tall man with the smile”. He was quite the host whenever I visited you at your home in North Carolina. He proudly showed me his backyard oasis and the care he gave it was evident. He always made me feel welcome and graciously exited the room to allow us to “catch up” with news of old friends and family members. He will be missed.

Dear Leslie, I’m so sorry to hear of Bob’s passing. I’ve known Bob since I moved to California in 1987. Bob befriended me and made me feel welcome to the Southern CA Tall clubs. He and my husband and I were all newsletter editors, and we would talk the fine points of cutting and pasting endlessly. It sounds boring, but we bonded. Bob was always smiling, always ready to pitch in and help, and very, very funny. The last several years, he continued to send me amusing emails. His love for his family was so strong and apparent. My deepest condolences to all of you. I’ll remember Bob and you, his family, in my prayers.
Sincerely, Jan Scheuermann

” Big Bro Bob ” as he liked to be called, was so very very fortunate to have Leslie in his life. He was a big man, who is leaving a big hole in our lives.

To Bob’s family
I knew Bob through CTTC. In 1989 I joined and he befriended me. I looked up to him, as a scholar and as someone I could talk with without feeling stupid. He never talked behind people’s back. If he had something to say to you, he said it to you directly. As a writer I appreciated his style and intensity of perfecting the written word.
As a person I will miss his humor, warmth and smile.

To the family,
Words can not express my sympathy at this time. I remember seeing Bob a few weeks ago before he passed. He looked good, when I asked him how he was doing he said he’s was doing better than before. I told him its a long process. Well Bob, rest my friend – you have great company – if you’re a jazz fan say hi to “B.B. King for me. To Leslie my sister from another mother, I’m here whenever you need me.
Love Always, Jeanelle

After reading all the messages left by those that knew Bob for many years it is evident that there was so much more. We only knew him in his last year and that was a difficult one for him. He was a very intelligent man with many interests and abilities. I remember when I first met him…he was so tall! To the Frankwick Family, we send our condolences for your loss .

We only knew Bob for a short time but he left an indelible mark in our memories. First time I meet Bob was at Crochet at Leslie’s and he was on his way out, guess he didn’t want to learn how to crochet a baby blanket with a bunch of ladies! Leslie always saved him some treats for when he came home ( of course this was after we were gone!). Then he started playing Bunco & he always gave us something to laugh about. And what can I say about the Christmas Party except that he was the “bell of the party” & boy could he shake those bells! He will be missed. Leslie, we are so sorry for your loss and our prayers are with you and your family. Sincerely, Julie & Gary
