Donald Marvin Russell Sr., 68, of Stanfield, NC passed away on Saturday August 15, 2015 surrounded by family. He was born on April 6, 1947 in Mecklenburg County, NC to the late Murray Russell and Margaret Litaker Russell.
Don worked many different jobs but his love was woodworking and he was a talented carpenter. He was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed farming, fishing, riding his tractor, and gambling. He loved to spend time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Annie Elizabeth Russell; a son, Dean Allen Russell; and a brother, William Russell.
Don is survived by two sons, Kevin “Ricky” Russell and wife Candy of Stanfield, and Donnie Russell Jr. and wife Kimberly of Albemarle; two brothers, Jerry Russell and wife Sally of Charlotte, and Danny Russell and wife Teresa of South Carolina; a sister, Linda Beck and husband William of Stanfield; eight grandchildren, Allyssa, Ali, Molly, Cali Dean, T.J., Allison, Miranda, and Samantha; two great grandchildren, Autumn and Andrew, and one great-grandchild on the way, Silas.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday August 22, 2015 at 2:00 PM at the Kinza Memorial Baptist Fellowship Hall (4311 Love Mill Rd., Stanfield, NC 28163) conducted by Pastor Don Brooks and Rev. Darrell Nance.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Stanly & The Uwharrie (960 North First St., Albemarle, NC 28001).
