Carol Lenore (Conn) Murphy, formerly of Hendersonville, NC, Sheboygan, WI and Watertown, WI, peacefully entered eternal life on Sunday morning, January 31, 2016. She was 84 years old.
Carol was born June 10, 1931 in the log cabin on the family homestead in White Lake, WI, the daughter of John and Ruth (St. Pierre) Conn. She graduated from White Lake High School and attended night classes in Milwaukee after moving there for her 1st job with the Wisconsin Gas Company.
On Sept. 26, 1953, she was united in marriage with Joseph C Murphy from Boston, MA. They raised their family in Watertown and Sheboygan, WI until their retirement to the Blue Ridge Mountains of Hendersonville, NC. Carol enjoyed gardening, playing bridge, traveling and spending time with friends and family. She and Joe also loved hosting AFS sons from around the world.
Carol is survived by four daughters, Patty (Dean) Kleist of Port Washington, Brenda (Rod) Johnson of Hendersonville; Katie (Steve) Kershner of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; and Sherri (Howard) Culbreth of Troutman, N.C. and 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She is further survived by brother John Conn of Brown Deer, WI, sister Genie (Herb) Buettner of White Lake, WI, special brother-in-law Joe Seidl of East Lansing, MI, AFS son Paulo (Anna) Ferreira of Brazil, many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
Carol was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph, her parents, her dearest sister, Dorothy Seidl, and other close family members and friends.
A family memorial celebration will be held at 1:30 on Saturday, February 13, 2016 at Peninsula Baptist Church, Mooresville, NC. Pastor David Teague of Christ Community Church will officiate. Interment will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Port Washington, WI.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Christ Community Church, Mooresville, NC, Billy Graham Evangelistic Assn, or your local hospice agency.
