Roszel Lawson, 74, of Mooresville, NC passed away on May 17, 2016 in her daughter’s home surrounded by her family. Ros was born on May 1, 1942 to the late John Dice Lawson & Lillian Hardester Lawson in Washington D.C. She was their only child.
She retired from the Cumberland County School System in 2006 after 18 years of dedicated service. She worked as a teacher’s assistant at Ponderosa Elementary School. Ros was well known for her kind and thoughtful nature. She had a significant impact on the school staff and the lives of countless children. Ros was an avid animal lover with a particular love for cats and a supporter of numerous charities. Her tireless dedication and love for her family and friends were her most endearing virtues.
Ros is survived by her daughters Katherine DeVoile & Kristine Hardee, her grandchildren Lynette & Anthony DeVoile and Taylor & Brady Hardee, and five great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers or gifts for the family, donations may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care of Charlotte & Lake Norman or the ALS Therapy Development Institute.
Her memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 4th at 2:00 pm in the chapel of James Funeral Home, 10520 Arahova Drive, Huntersville, NC.

Ros has been a gift to all! She continued to support the children at Ponderosa after her retirement in 2006. She was always thoughtful, caring, supportive, loving and respectful. A true lady of value!
