My condolences to Bob’s family. I have known Bob since the late 1980s due to our mutual interest in ham radio, and worked with him in many areas related to that. I am sorry to hear of his passing, but so grateful that I knew him. Our community and country is a better place because he was here!
Scott Harwood says
Bob and his wife, Jane were close friends of mine when they lived in nearby Crewe, VA, which he referred to as “Creee Weee”. He was very active in our ham radio club and always there when one needed help.
We stayed in touch over the years and I still have fond memories from the last time I saw him in Charlotte when we had dinner together.
My deepest condolences to Bob’s family. He was a great man and will be missed.
John Scott (K8YC) says
Bob was the station manager of the Discovery Place amateur radio station all thirteen years I volunteered there. It was through that friendship I learned of Bob’s contribution to our country’s freedom in the South Pacific. Alas, we have lost another hero and a good friend.
Steve and Lorrie Barker says
We were distant neighbors and friends to Bob, Rod and Sheryl. I always enjoyed Bob’s company. He was so pleasant and interesting to listen to. I loved his stories, and he enjoyed our music. We had a lot of good times at their house, and enjoyed an abundance of good fellowship and delicious food.
Life doesn’t get any better than that!
RIP Bob
