Robert Luther Kirkland, 78, of Richfield, passed away on Saturday, June 18, 2016 at his residence. He was born on October 21, 1937 in Apopka, FL, to the late J. H. Kirkland and Eva Warren Kirkland. Robert proudly served his country in the United States Army.
Robert worked as the Owner and Operator of Veteran Motors. He loved to fish, hunt, ride on his boat, and go to the beach with his family. Robert could fix anything and could build anything that you wanted.
In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by a step-son, Christopher John, and a brother, Vernon Kirkland.
Robert is survived by his wife of 30 years, Emily Coffin Kirkland, a son, John Robert Kirkland of Canadagan, NY; daughter, Kathy Denosky (Charlie) of Shortsville, NY; step-daughter, Tracy Murphy of Richfield, NC; sister, Virginia Smith of Murfeesboro, NC; grandchildren, Jennifer Santee, Jason Rowles, Benjamin Denosky and fiance Amanda Schaffer; great-grandchildren, Jeffrey Orbaker, Alexander Santee, Ryan Santee, and Zachary Santee.
A Military Graveside Service will be held at the Salisbury National Cemetery (501 Statesville Blvd., Salisbury, NC 28144) on Wednesday June 29, 2016 at 2:00 PM. Military honors will be provided by the North Carolina National Guard.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Emilie, so sorry about bob, I had stopped by twice in last year, but missed you all. I have thought about bob a lot, he was a good friend and a loyal employee. We were at the beach for a few weeks when I learned of his death or I would have atteneded his service. Thinking of you all.
