Landis, Karla Lee Spurbeck, 61, of Salisbury, one the morning of August 15, 2016 at 11:00 AM died of pancreatic cancer. Karla was at home surrounded by family at the time of her death. Karla was born in Buffalo, NY on January 19, 1955. She was the second daughter of Roy and Eva (Gert) Spurbeck. Karla married Steve Landis on June 19, 1983.

She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Salisbury, NC at the time of her death. Karla was a world traveler and is now in her new world. She was an avid reader of mysteries, cat lover, and a craft enthusiast.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy (1992) and Eva (2002) Spurbeck; a niece, Rachel Ann Kuizenga (2001); a father-in-law, Charles Landis (2001); and a sister-in-law, Mary Landis (2003).

She is survived by her husband, Steve Landis of Salisbury; a sister, Wendy Kuizenga; a brother-in-law, Lee Kuizenga; niece, Evie Kuizenga; nephew -in-law, Calvin Sisson II; great niece, Kayla Sisson; great nephew’s, Kenneth Sisson, Calvin Sisson III, and great, great nephew, Trent Hilderbrandt (Kayla’s Sisson’s son); mother-in-law, Malvrie Landis; brother-in-law, Chuck Landis and wife Margaret; sister-in-law, Karen Corbett and husband Bill; niece, Kayla Corbett; and nephew, Joshua Corbett.

A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday August 18, 2016 at 2:00 PM at First Presbyterian Church (308 W. Fisher St., Salisbury, NC 28144), conducted by Dr. Randy Kirby and Rev. Brian Daoust.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Toys for Tots in her honor.
