James J. Jones Sr., 74, of Salisbury, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Saturday, September 3, 2016 in Cherokee, NC. Mr. Jones was born on March 22, 1942 in Rowan County, NC to the late Raymond Lamar Jones Sr. and Cora Harrell Jones. Mr. Jones proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps.

James was of the Baptist Faith received Christ as his Savior in the late 1970’s. He worked as a Truck Driver for most of his life. He enjoyed spending time with his family (going to Myrtle Beach, fishing, and playing all sorts games with them as well).

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Lois Perry Jones, who passed away on October 13, 2010; and a sister, Violet Lee Jones.

James is survived by five children, James Jones Jr. (Janie) of Salisbury; Wendy Jones Bowers (Ronald Sr.) of Salisbury; Penny Jones Cothran (Mark) of Charlotte; Kim Jones Sifford (Scott) of Salisbury and Tony Jones of Salisbury; a brother, Raymond Lamar Jones Jr. (Christa) of Dallas, TX; twelve grandchildren, Diana Jones Otwell, Danielle Jones, James Jones III, Joseph Jones, Ronald Bowers Jr., Jessie Bowers, Brittany Bowers Cress, Victoria Cothran, Darin Sifford, Myah Sifford, Alyssa Jones, and Anthony Jones; and eight great-grandchildren, Cheyenne Otwell, Rigby Stamison, Leah Ithier, Jackson Bowers, Sophia Bowers, Natalie Cress, Ruthie Mauro, and Ollie May Sifford.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday September 17, 2016 at 6:00 PM at Carmel Baptist Church (2100 Mooresville Rd, Salisbury, NC 28145).
