Marie Annetta McCormick, 71, of West Virginia, passed away peacefully Thursday, September 15, 2016 at Glenn A. Kiser Hospice House in Salisbury, NC.
She was born in Welch, WV to the late Wade and Naomi (Conley) McCormick. Marie grew up in Welch, WV where she attended Dunbar Jr. High, and graduated from Kimball High School class of 1963. Marie dreamed of working in New York and always said she would return to West Virginia when she retired, and she did just that. After graduating from Bluefield State University in 1976, she joined her family in Queens, NY. A woman of her word, and now resident of NYC, she worked her first job at Chase Manhattan Bank where she then moved on to work as a supervisor at TIAA-CREF. Upon retiring from TIAA-CREF, she moved back to Gary, WV.
Marie was loved by many and will be greatly missed.
She was predeceased by her siblings Jerry Marshall McCormick and Teresa Ann (McCormick) Holiday.
Marie is survived by her son Patrick A. McCormick and his spouse, Noelle McCormick of Charlotte, two brothers, Steve McCormick of New York, and Wade Jr. McCormick of North Carolina, and niece Robin Naomi Marie (McCormick) Martin. Two grandchildren Patrice and Paul McCormick; and many nephews and nieces.
The family would like to extend their deepest gratitutude to the staff of Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center and the staff of Glenn A. Kiser Hospice House for all of their loving care.

My deepest condolences to the McCormick Family. Marie and I joined TIAA-CREF on the same day back in December 17th, 1979. She was a very pleasant person and always had a smile on her face.
We also knew some of the same people from WV (The Ross family from Beckley).
