Lois Ann DeVita Short, 75, of Concord, NC, passed away on Monday, September 12, 2016, at Tucker Hospice House, Kannapolis, NC. Lois was born on April 27, 1941 in Broome County, NY to the late James DeVita and Helen Augusta DeVita.
She is survived by her husband, Philip A. Short, of 38 years; four children, Keith Campbell, Greene, NY, Lory Campbell, Charlotte, NC, and twins Kenneth Campbell, Endicott, NY; and Karen Warden (Jamie) of Lakewood, NY; Step-children, Becky Doughton, Roanoke, VA and Allan Short (Eve) of Daphne, AL, two brothers, Ronald DeVita (Marilyn) Endicott, NY, and James DeVita Jr. (Judy) of Owego, NY; eleven grandchildren, Kelly Campbell, Kent Campbell, Jeffrey Warden, Steven Warden, Shane Campbell, Michael Doughton, Jenny Doughton, John Doughton, Garrett Doughton, Matthew Short, and Caroline Short and several nieces and nephews.
Lois was an active member of Cold Springs United Methodist Church, Concord, NC. She worked at IBM-Charlotte in the purchasing department. She was a very talented baker and loved making cookies and cheese cakes for her family and friends. She enjoyed going dancing, playing slot machines at casinos, watching Jeff Gordon in NASCAR races and going on cruises. But, more than anything, she loved to spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday October 8, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Cold Springs United Methodist Church (2550 Cold Springs Rd., Concord, NC 28025) conducted by Rev. Tony Bell.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the (Jeff Gordon) Levine Children’s Hospital, Charlotte, NC, or to your local Animal Rescue Shelter in Lois’ memory.
