Saundra Lee Hartness Nance, 72, of Salisbury, NC passed away on Friday September 16, 2916 at the Glenn A. Kiser Hospice House surrounded by her family. Mrs. Nance was born on February 8, 1944 in Danville, VA to the late Frances Mae Safrit Hartness Wilson Walser.
Saundra was a 1962 Graduate of West Davidson High School and was a clerical worker, most recently at Rowan County Airport. She enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, playing slot machines, and going to the beach and having many adventures with her friend, Carol Hall. She was a member of Smith Grove Baptist Church in Churchland, NC.
She is survived by a daughter, Pamela “Pam” Nance of Salisbury; a son, Marvin Nance and wife, Misti of Churchland; two brothers, Michael “Mike” Hartness and wife, Jane of Salisbury and Steven “Steve” Wilson and wife, Sandy, of Lexington; two sisters, Karen W. Beane of Greensboro and Margaret W. Snider of Lexington; four grandchildren, Marshall Nance and wife, Stacey of Clover, SC, Matthew Nance and wife, Carrie of Charlotte, Justin Nance and wife, Bethany of Churchland, and Mekaela Nance of Winston-Salem; three great-grandchildren, Aiden, Bekah, and Alice.
In addition to her mother, she is preceded in death by her two father-figures; grandfather, Charles Leroy Safrit, and stepfather Ira Ray “Dick” Wilson and Howard Nance, the father of their children.
There will be a memorial service on Thursday September 22, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Smith Grove Baptist Church (3462 Sowers Road Linwood, NC 27299) conducted by Pastor, Terry Smith.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Smith Grove Baptist Church, 3462 Sowers Road Linwood, NC 27299.
