James Ellis Carriker, 69, of Badin, passed away on Tuesday October 11, 2016 at his residence surrounded by family. Mr. Carriker was born October 7, 1947 in Stanly County, NC to the late Ellis Cline Carriker and Maie Lanier Carriker.

Mr. Carriker was the owner and operator of his own Industrial Mechanic shop and loved to work on farming equipment. He enjoyed being outdoors and loved to go hunting and fishing. Mr. Carriker also enjoyed reading, westerns, going to tractor pulls, and spending time with family and friends. James was a past Master Mason of the Yadkin Falls Lodge #637 in Badin, NC.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by 2 brothers, Marvin and William, and a grandson, Kevin Kendall.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Libby Smith Carriker of Badin; daughters Angie Kendall and friend Tony, Jana Gregory and husband Frank; a son, Jamie Carriker and wife Tiffany; grandsons, Jason, Dakota, and Mitchell; special granddaughter, Madison; stepgranddaughter, Brittany; 4 great-grandchildren, 2 nieces, and 2 nephews.

A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday October 15, 2016 at 2:00 at Bear Creek Primitive Baptist Church ( 22182 Canton Road, Albemarle, NC 28001).

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Badin Volunteer Fire Department (125 NC-740, Badin, NC 28009) or Hospice of Stanly County (960 N 1st St, Albemarle, NC 28001).
