Celester Vaughn Sr.. was born 89 years ago on December 13th, 1927, the second of seven children, to Mr. and Mrs. Isaiah and Willie Smith. He is survived by 4 of his 6 siblings, his brothers, James and Charles, his sisters, Daisy and Laverne, and a host of nephews and nieces.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a son, Aaron Vaughn.
On Saturday December 31, 2016 Celester Vaughn Sr. fell asleep in death, in the loving attentive arms of his wife of 56 years, Dolores and his spiritual son and caregiver Anthony Blakeney. Jehovah blessed Celester with eight children, four boys and four girls. His sons are Celester Jr., Michael Sr., and Adriel Sr. (Blanche Coleman-Vaughn). His daughter’s are Leslie, Michelle, Angela and Deborah. Jehovah also blessed to Celester to enjoy his 14 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
The greatest joy of his life was when he learned where Cain got his wife from, the answer to that question changed the course of his life. From that time on, going from studying to be a Baptist minister to a life of a dedicated servant of Jehovah where he symbolized his dedication to Jehovah on March 15th 1948 and has kept his eyes on the prize ever since. He has had the privilege of serving as an Elder and a pioneer for over 30 years, he is now asleep and is awaiting the call of our Lord and Savior Jesus so he can be reunited with his loved ones in Paradise.
The Vaughn family would like to thank our family, spiritual and fleshly as well as our friends, for their prayers and the outpouring of love and support that you all have shown during our time of Sorrow.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday January 7, 2017 at 4:00 PM at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses (3411 Old Concord Rd., Salisbury, NC).
