Clay Phillip (Phil) Mayhew, 71, of Kannapolis N.C. passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 1, 2017 at his home surrounded by family. He was born on April 30, 1945 in Mooresville, N.C. to the late Guy and Ada Mayhew.
Phil worked as a Parts Clerk for Napa Auto Parts in Mooresville N.C. for many years. He enjoyed fellowship at Rodgers Park Reformed Church in Kannapolis N.C. He always enjoyed Sunday drives with his loving wife Bonnie and his beloved sidekicks Frank and Shay. Many enjoyed his sense of humor and frequent jokes.
He was a proud Navy veteran, faithful and loving husband, and he enjoyed his country roots.
In addition to his parents, Phil was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.
Phil is survived by his wife, Bonnie Mayhew; son, Keith Plott and wife Bobbi Lynn of Murrells Inlet, SC; son, Timothy Plott and fiance Michelle of Kannapolis, NC; daughter, Teresa Hocken and husband Chris of Oakboro, NC; six grandchildren, Thomas Plott, Adam Plott, David Scroger, Tara Howell, Elizabeth Plott, and Cameron Buckner; two special sisters-in-law, Mary Bryant of China Grove NC, and Betty Mayhew of Mooresville NC; eight great-grandchildren, and a number of nephews and nieces.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Rodgers Park Reformed Church located at, 704 East 22nd street Kannapolis, NC on Saturday, January 21, at 1:00 pm.
