Mary Ann (Sillay) Cagle, 81, of Concord, NC, formerly of Reading, PA, passed away February 2nd at CMC Northeast following a brief illness.

Born November 4, 1935 in Brooklyn, NY, she was the daughter of the late Louis J. Sillay, Sr. and the late Reba (Laramore) Sillay. She was raised in Altanta, GA and was a 1953 graduate of Joseph E. Brown High School. She was employed by UGI Utilities in Reading, PA for 20 years and retired in 2000. Mary Ann was an excellent cook and baker. She enjoyed nothing more than hosting and preparing family dinners. She also enjoyed quilting, reading and spending time with friends and family. She was a former member of Advent Lutheran Church, West Lawn, PA and was most recently a member of Mt. Hermon Lutheran Church, Concord, NC.

She is survived by her brothers Louis J. Sillay, Jr., Guy Sillay and R. Stephen Sillay, all of Georgia. She was predeceased by a sister, Rita (Sillay) Lyon. She is also survived by her children, Cathleen Halteman (Jay) of Muncie, IN, Laura Fry of Charlotte, NC, Amy Dubowski (David) of Clayton, NC and Steven Cagle of Concord, NC. She also leaves behind four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

The family would like to acknowledge Mary Ann’s grandson’s wife, Ubrana Fry, for her devotion and love in caring for Mary Ann in the last year of her life.

Services will be held Saturday March 4, 2017 at 2:00pm at Mt. Hermon Lutheran Church, 3600 US-601, Concord, NC 28025 with the Reverend Carrie Bishop presiding.

Memorial donations may be made to Mt. Hermon Lutheran Church in Mary Ann’s name at the above address.
