Frederick Charles Gries II, 58, of Belmont, died early on Friday, February 24, 2017, with his family at home.
Born April 17, 1958 in Fort Pierce, FL, the youngest of four, to Frederick Charles and Shirley Brown Gries.
Rick spent his adult life working in the automotive industry. He enjoyed all kinds of music and was an avid Panthers and Dodgers fan. He loved working outside in the yard and taking beach trips with his family.
Surviving him are wife Diane Whitler Gries; daughters Emily, Calista and Kaylea all of the home; Brother Terry Reals of Ft Pierce FL and his daughters Shirley Mays and Sheila Long; sister Debra Sue Gries of Tallahassee FL.; sister-in-law Frieda Reals Port St Lucie, FL, her children Michael Reals and Mellissa Reals Williams; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by both his parents and older brother Robert “Bobby” Reals.
A special thanks given to the nurses at Hospice as well as to family friends Brittany Alleman and Victoria Cannelli for all the care and effort they put into making his final days comfortable.
Family requests memorials be sent to Hospice of Gaston County (P.O. Box 3984 Gastonia, NC 28054).
Memorial Service will be held Saturday, March 18, 2017 at 11:00 AM at the First Presbyterian Church of Belmont 102 S Central Ave. Belmont, NC 28012 Family will receive friends after the service.
A private family burial will be held at a later date.

When we first met we both new the other was a friend for life. You were our best man when I married Angie, as life happens we both became Fathers and lost touch. I will miss you brother, get some rest Rick and I’ll see you when I get there. Love ya brother your friend Steven Large.
