Richard “Dick” George Wian, 64, of Charlotte, passed away as he lived, surrounded by his loving family on March 30, 2017.
Outside of his adored family, Dick was passionate about his beloved Pittsburg Steelers. Dick gave and received love easily; he was truly a beautiful man, inside and out.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years and high school sweetheart, Francine “Gold” Wian; his proudest achievements, his sons, Jonathan (Ronda) and Elliott (Elizabeth); as well as his grandchildren: Jackson, Ella, and Eleanor, who astonished him with their unconditional love. He is also survived by his cherished sister, Judy Remo, and brother-in-law, Jim Remo, and his many loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Dick is preceded in death by his parents George Wian and Pearl Fryman, his sister Joan Remo, and his brother Tom Wian.
A memorial will be held in Charlotte on Sunday, April 9 at 11am for family and friends to gather to honor and celebrate Dick’s life.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Donate a Life America: www.donatelife.net/give-to-dla/.
The family would like to especially thank the staff of The Levine and Dickson Hospice House at Southminster for their care and compassion.
Carolina Cremation of Charlotte is assisting the Wian family. Online condolences may be made at www.carolinacremation.com.

Reading Dick’s obit was sad but brings back a lot of very fond memories I had of the Wian family in Pittsburgh. Pearl was one of a kind. She taught me it’s ok to swear and threaten your kids when you need them to behave. I think of Joannie, Tommy and of course Judy anytime I think about what a great neighborhood we had growing up. I was sorry to hear of the loss of all of your family.
