James “Bud” Rowland, 84, passed from death into eternal life Sunday, August 27, 2017 in Salisbury, NC. Bud was born in Rowan County to the late Earl and Tillie Rowland of Gold Hill, NC on January 22, 1934.
James married Betty Estes in Baltimore, MD. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and working on old trucks. He also loved to watch the Carolina Panthers, the Atlanta Braves, and the Baltimore Orioles with family. Bud worked as a brick mason and loved it until he retired when he was 62.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Estes Rowland; a brother, Junie “Shotgun” Rowland; a sister, Margaret; a son, David Estes; and a grandson, Marshall “Andy” Eagle.
Surivivors include his five children: Dwayne Estes, Jackie Walker, Patty Bradshaw, Jamie Rowland, and Bobbi Rowland; two siblings: Tot Rowland, and Catherine Foster; fourteen grandchildren: Keyoka Blake, Tara Estes, Brittney Gibson, Grady Estes, Amelia Estes, William Estes, Sarah Estes, Katie Estes, Hunter Estes, Matt Eagle, Katherine Pedneau, Sam Pedneau, Shalyn Brown, and Jax Roberts; eight Great Grandchildren: Julius, Ashtyn, Kaleb, Kiersten, Timothy, Noah, Sawyer, and Colton.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, September 7, 2017 at 6:30pm at Bethel Baptist Church (401 Depot St, Rockwell, NC 28138) conducted by Pastor John Houghton. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 5:45 PM to 6:15 PM
