Otelo “Del” Delio Rollo, 93, formerly of Miami, FL peacefully passed away in his sleep on Tuesday, June 5, 2018 at the NC State Veterans Home in Salisbury, NC.
He was born September 19, 1924 in Miami, FL to the late John P. Rollo Sr. and Blanca Rivera Rollo. Del proudly served in the United States Navy during World War II and the Korean War. He subsequently joined the United States Air Force where he retired as a Master Sergeant in 1968. In his spare time, he enjoyed reading, watching the Florida Gators, woodworking, and operating his HAM radio. He loved Star Trek and was a member of the Masons. Del was always happy and was known for his positive outlook on life and his sense of humor.
In addition to his parents, Del was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Virginia Wells Rollo; grandaughter, Cindy Roth; a brother and 5 sisters.
Del is survived by daughter, Rosemary Connelly (and husband, Edward) of Elkin, NC; son, J. Michael Rollo (and wife Amy) of Estero, FL; grandchildren, Rebecca, Rachel, Emily, Denise and Michelle; 7 great-grandchildren; brothers, George and Tony; and sister, Sophia.
Del will be laid to rest at the Sarasota National Cemetery with his beloved wife, Virginia.

I worked with Del for a few years at Cash Register Systems in Charlotte.
He was unfailingly kind, cheerful and a pleasure to be around. Taught me a slightly
off-color nickname for his Gator’s rivals, FSU which I won’t share here.
I feel fortunate to have known him.
