John Arthur Williams, 66, of Concord, NC, went home to meet Jesus on October 13, 2019.

John was born February 12, 1953 in Hinton, WV to the late Arthur Clyde Williams and Gloria Surbaugh Harrah.

Survivors include his wife, Gayle Parks Williams, at home; son, John Michael Williams and wife Melissa of Marshallville, OH; brother Leonard Andrew Williams of MacArthur, WV; sisters, Kathy Wills Henson and husband Duane of Decatur, AL and Suzanna Harrah-Martin and husband Larry of Green Sulphur Springs, WV; stepchildren, Randy McMillen and wife Beth of Mechanicsville, VA, Jeffrey McMillen and wife Deanna of New Castle, PA, and Lisa McMillen of Concord, NC; 12 grandchildren, one great-granddaughter, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

John was preceded in death by his daughter, Sara Williams Wadding, and his brother Clyde Matthew Williams.

John graduated from Sandstone High School, Sandstone, WV, in 1971. He attended Concord College in Athens, WV. He was a Navy veteran. He worked as a surveyor for 40 years and was a survey technician for Lane Construction in Charlotte, NC.

John loved going to the beach (his “Happy Place”), spending time with family and good friends, grilling and listening to music. He loved fishing and football, especially the Pittsburgh Steelers and West Virginia Mountaineers. He always said he never met a stranger. He will be truly missed by family and friends.

Services will be held at Broadus Baptist Church in Concord, NC (of which John was a member) on October 27, 2019 (visitation at 1:00 p.m. and memorial at 2:00 p.m.) and at Meadow Creek Baptist Church in Meadow Creek, WV on November 2, 2019 at 11:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Broadus Baptist Church or the Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis, NC.
