Judy H. Trexler, 69, of Salisbury, passed away on Thursday, February 11, 2021 at Glenn A. Kiser Hospice House.
She was born September 26, 1951 in Forsyth County to the late Walter Lee Hole, Sr. and Annie Ruth Young Hole. Judy graduated from Appalachian State University with a Bachelor’s degree in English, and a Master’s degree in English from UNC. She taught middle school academically gifted students, grades 6 to 9, for 30 years. She was a teacher at Lexington Middle, China Grove Middle, Landis Middle, and Knox Middle. Judy received two Star Awards from Time Warner Cable for Excellence in Teaching. She also received a Teacher of the Year award from China Grove Middle. Judy was a GAL for Rowan County for 10 years and in that time she advocated for 27 children seeing them all to safe, loving, permanent homes. She was a very active member of St. John’s Lutheran. She spent 12 years as one of the main volunteers for cooking for the Rowan Helping Ministries. Judy helped make Chrismons for the church and worked with various groups in the church such as Men’s Chorus, Wednesday night meals, WELCA, and she was on the Church Council on and off throughout her time with the church. With her best friend, Van Fagan, they founded a stained glass ministry called Light One Candle. They made banners and stained glass artwork for multiple churches and schools. In the Lutheran Home Chapel they created all of the stained glass artwork including a wall of 40 windows of several similar pieces and two large altar pieces. In her spare time she helped teach her only grandson. During this past year she was his main support with school.
She was preceded in death by her parents.

I’ve spent the last 14 years in the classroom in the hopes that I might make a fraction of the difference that Mrs. Trexler made on me.
Jane Brown Taubert says
Judy Trexler was the teacher that made my middle school years bearable while helping me to find out what I wanted to do with my life. Not only did she teach me a great deal about English literature, instilling a love of poetry and all things beautiful in language arts, but she also defended me in the face of mobbing, fellow students who had chosen to make my 7th grade year a horrific experience. From Judy I learned to recognize my value as a unique and gifted individual and through her I found the courage to go against the flow. I feel so much gratitude and love for a person who nurtured, inspired and ultimately saved me. God bless Judy and her family. She will surely be missed.

Dear Henry, Rebecca, Nathan and others dear to Judy, Grace and peace from our Lord Jesus! We grieve with you on the death of this vibrant, loving, caring follower of our Lord whom it was our privilege to know when a student at ASU (when I served Grace, Boone). May you know God’s comfort and strength as you remember that Jesus is the Resurrection and the Life, and Judy is His forever.
In Christ’s love, David & Diana
