Jay buddy,
You asked me to play lead guitar in your band ‘Kansas City’ in Riyadh in the mid 80s with Blake Werner (guitar) , John Hill (drums) and the unforgettable velvet tones of ‘Big’ Larry Bridges on vocals. We practiced until we were a great little outfit. We became the best of friends and my late wife Debbie became especially close to Chantal. (I remember her loving their trip to Hong Kong together.)
You visited us in Scotland, then life just got in the way until we occasionally called or emailed.
I thought about those days often and have never removed the gold guitar you had made for me from around my neck.
It’s the one tangible thing I have always treasured… even more so now.
Safe journey Jay.
All my love to Chantal, Virginia, Nick, and Clint.

Dear Zampella Family, only recently I learned about Jay’s passing, hence these late condoleances. I knew Jay way back in the early seventies in Amsterdam during his holidays from Ryadh. Though it is almost 50 years ago I have never firgotten this gentle, intelligent man with his love for music and Corvettes! Again my sincere condoleances.
