Sarah Kathryn Wilson Simmons

Due to heart failure, Sarah (82) of Charlotte, NC went home to be with her Lord and Savior on October 7, 2021, with family by her side. She was preceded in death by parents Sherrill Frank Wilson and Annie Mae McCrary Wilson, and siblings Virginia Dare Bolin, Roy Lee Wilson, Edwin Sherrill Wilson, Betty Carol Beck, Martha Ann Crouse, her only grandchild Jaime Rea Garris Greywolf, and her life partner, David A. Knight.

She is survived by her children Sammy Garris and wife Chris of Rockwell, NC, Diane Garris and her partner Ron of Charlotte, NC, her brother, Larry Dean Wilson and wife Idella of Aberdeen, SD, step-children Mary Anne Simmons and Robin Simmons of Roanoke, VA, Carol Lee Crouch and her husband Jeff of Bedford, VA, Marilyn Sue Trotter of Florida, all their children and her many bonus children who called her “Mama;” plus her many rescued four-legged children.

Most of Sarah’s career was spent as a drivers ed, in-car instructor, followed by ten years in medical billing and insurance.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, October 16, at Dan Nicholas Park, 6800 Bringle Ferry Road, Salisbury, NC, Shelter # J – C at 3:00 pm, followed by visitation and potluck dinner at 4:00 pm. Place of internment will be determined at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or to the family for the benefit of the ongoing care for Sarah’s many beloved kittens.
