Dwight James “John” Gunter, of Midland, NC, passed away on Tuesday, August 09, 2022.

John was born in Union, South Carolina on February 16, 1954 to the late James Rufus Gunter and Lucy Belle Littrell. He retired from Vulcan Materials of Clear Creek, NC and Cone Mills of Union, SC.

He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Loving Gunter; children, Dwight John Gunter of Jonesville, SC and Melissa Gunter Bryant of Bradenton, FL; stepchildren, Chad Crook of Charlotte, NC, Evan Crook of Midland, NC and Shay Wright of Boone, NC; grandchildren, Ski Bryant, Finn Bryant, Hanna Crook, Kimberly Crook, Candace Crook and Eryn Wright; great grandchild, Bonnie Kirby; sisters, Lucy Clark of Spartanburg, SC, Peggy Vaughan of Union, SC, Susan Ward of Jonesville, SC; brothers, David Gunter of Jonesville, SC, Michael (Joe) Gunter of Crouse, NC.

John was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
