Sarah “Euvalea” Kimball (Gibson) Strickland, 90, of Carolina Beach, passed away peacefully at Cypress Pointe Rehabilitation Center in Wilmington, NC on August 17, 2022.

She was born March 14, 1932 in China Grove, NC to the late Wertz Crawford Kimball and Edith Goodman Kimball.

After graduating Landis High School as Salutatorian for her class, Euvalea attended Appalachian State Teacher’s College where she received her Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education. She then spent her entire teaching career in the Iredell County School System.

Euvalea was preceded in death by her first husband Boyce Grier Gibson, Jr., her second husband Lewis Calvin Strickland, her eldest son Boyce Grier Gibson III, and her daughter Clair Euvalea Strickland Brake.

Mrs Strickland is survived by son Gregory Lewis Gibson (Jean), and son in law Jay Frederick Brake, 5 grandchildren; Amy Gibson Johnson (Brandon), Bradley Lewis Gibson (Kristy), Grant Elliott Gibson (Ashlyn), Carrie Brake Phillips (Patrick), Jason Robert Brake, and great grandson Bentley Lewis Gibson.

Private services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to St John’s Lutheran Church in Statesville.
