Gary Thomas Miller was born in Logansport, IN, on April 19, 1955 to Patricia and Neal Miller. He died in his home in China Grove, NC, on February 10, 2023.
From an early age he loved cars, motorcycles and racing. He raced on the local motocross circuit during high school. Following graduation, he completed mechanics training and went to the West Coast where he began his dream of working for NASCAR. While working a race he was run over by a trailer carrying two cars and suffered brain injury and leg trauma such that he was told he might not walk again or regain full language abilities. Through sheer determination he worked his way back and went on to the main NASCAR circuit where he became a a top official, had a stint on the tv show, NASCAR Garage, along with his own NASCAR Trading card and the nickname, The Shadow. Upon retirement he went back to Logansport where he cared for his mother until her death. He continued to refurbish motorcycles and consult for a racing company until his death.
He is survived by his two sisters, Pamela Miller Sample and Tammy Miller Puzzella and their families.
