With great sadness, we announce the passing of Bart Tobin of Angier, NC. He lost his battle with cancer on April 16, 2023, he was 59.
Bart and his twin brother, Brett were born to Matthew and Florence (Kavanaugh) Tobin on December 11, 1963 in Brooklyn NY. He was the fifth child of an older sister and three brothers. With his mother a den mother and his father a scout master; Bart and his brothers were very active in the Boy Scouts of America for the majority of their younger lives. As members of Troop 100 the code of conduct and lessons they learned from this experience greatly influenced how he lived his life. His family moved from Brooklyn to upstate New York when he was about 11 years old. This opened up a whole new world of freedom to Bart and his brothers. In his early 20s Bart and his twin Brett followed in their father’s footsteps to become pipe fitters. They earned their journeyman’s credentials becoming member of the impressive Plumber’s Union Local #1 in New York, which was not an easy task to complete. Being the youngest, Bart grew to be a fighter which served him well in his lifetime. He strived to excel in all that he did and was very competitive, but also generous and honest.
Bart is survived by his two children; Caitlin Beth Tobin and Paul Tobin. His older sister, Deborah (Leppanen) Denny, his two older brothers; Patrick Tobin and Kevin Tobin, and several nieces and nephews that loved him dearly. Both of his parents and his twin brother preceded him in death. He was a devoted father, brother and proud uncle, and he spent a lot of time attending family events. Even though he lived far from his extended family, he was never alone the list of friends and work associates who mourn his passing are many. In the last few years, he was always accompanied by his faithful dog Dori.
