Joshua “Josh” Wayne Hatley, 38, of Kannapolis, passed away on Friday, August 4, 2023.
He was born July 11, 1985 in Concord, NC. He attended South Rowan High School, where he was in the JROTC. Josh was a hard worker and worked numerous jobs. He enjoyed ‘pickin’ and collecting various items. Josh also enjoyed tinkering with bicycles and lawnmowers. Josh was known as a jokester and enjoyed picking on people and getting them to laugh.
He attended Bright Light Baptist Church and Prince of Peace Freewill Baptist Church.
Josh was preceded in death by his father, Ronnie Hatley; grandmother, Mary Davis; grandfather, Robert Lee Fox; and paternal grandparents, “Granny” and “Grandpaw” Hatley.
Josh is survived by his mother, Brenda Upright and step-father, Randy Mark Upright of Kannapolis; brother, Danny Hatley of Kannapolis; sister, Michelle Walter of Johnson City, TN; nieces and nephew, Haley Walter, Austin Walter and Madison Walter, all of Tennessee; grandmother, Willie Fox of Concord; and aunt, Cornell Rummage (Ralph) of Lexington.
The family will receive visitors at 12pm on Saturday, August 12, 2023 at Prince of Peace Freewill Baptist Church, 4225 Vincent St. Kannapolis, NC 28081. A memorial service will begin at 1pm, with Pastor Chuck Overcash officiating.
