Let the family know you care by sharing this tribute.
Earl Glenn Knight began his journey in Glenham, New York, on Valentine’s Day in 1953. The day meant as a celebration of love, would mark the start of a life that would touch countless souls and leave an indelible mark on the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to cross his path. On August 9, 2023, Earl departed this world, leaving behind a legacy of laughter, friendship, and unyielding light.
Earl, the second eldest of Lennie and Johnnie Knight’s eight children, grew up learning early the art of connection. From these roots, he blossomed into a man who never met a stranger, weaving a tapestry of friendships that spanned far and wide. He carried the lessons of his upbringing with him that extended through generations. Our father’s heart, even as it failed him, was a wellspring of love, evident through his five children: Nicole, Narissa, Nathan, Nichelle, and Glenniece, thirteen grandchildren and one great grandchild he adored.
That same heart, expansive as the open sky and presence, a beacon of acceptance, made your differences disappear in the light of his genuine smile and culinary magic. Within the haven of his kitchen, Dad’s coveted fried fish left you in awe–talking about it for weeks and craving more. And who could forget orange-tinted potato salad, a dish that managed to capture the essence of his personality – complex yet utterly unforgettable. These dishes were more than food; they were an extension of his love and his true heart’s desire to bring people together. As his presence shone beyond the kitchen, he was a reminder to all that life was meant to be embraced fully and lived vibrantly.
Yet, like many, our father was a man of complexity and depth and was unafraid to confront his imperfections. He possessed the courage to acknowledge his flaws, seeking forgiveness with a heart that yearned for understanding. Earl’s life was a lesson that even in our shortcomings, we can shine brightly and inspire others to do the same. His birthday will be a poignant reminder of the beautiful parallels between his character and the essence of the holiday prompting us to celebrate love and cherish those we care for. His life prompts us to honor his memory by continuing to spread the same love and reminding us that even in conflict, you still show up.
As we bid adieu to our father, son, brother, uncle, cousin and friend let us gather not only in solemnity but in reverence for a life well-lived. Let us remember the warmth of his smile, the symphony of his laughter, and the flavors of his creations. Earl’s departure leaves an ache in our hearts, yet his memory will forever linger, a constellation of moments that light our way.
We love you Dad, you did well and although you’re gone in the physical, your spirit lives on through all of us.

I met Mr. Earl through Nicole who is married to my best friend AJ. We would always talk when I would visit their home, he would make sure I got a plate if he cooked, or when I had to link up with him to pick up my godson Noah and Noelle. After meeting my mom one year at Noelle’s birthday party, he would always ask me about her. We became family through our love for the Alexander’s. My mother and I send our condolences to his entire family.

I am extending my deepest sympathies to my daughter Niecy (Glenniece Banks) to her siblings and her extended family, as well as our family. Our hearts are truly hurting with the passing of Earl Glenn Knight. Earl has brought a great deal of happiness to our family throughout the years. He was great at photography and creating art through the camera lens. We will remember him as we take more pictures and enjoy life, like he did. He was well loved and surely will be missed by all. Rest easy Earl! 💔🙏🏾
