Ray Carl “Jaybird” Pickler Jr., 62, of Rockwell, passed away Tuesday, April 2, 2024 at his home.
He was born January 24, 1962 in Salisbury, NC to the late Ray Pickler Sr. and Melba Basinger Pickler. He graduated from East Rowan High School Class of 1980. He worked with his father at Ray’s Auto Sales for over 30 years. He loved to fish and hunt, collect antiques, and loved being the light man for the Phantoms of Dixie. He also enjoyed spending time with his friends, family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Ray was preceded in death by his father, Ray Pickler Sr.
In addition to his mother, Melba Basinger Pickler; Ray is survived by his wife, Vicki McCombs Pickler; son, Cody Daniel Pickler; sister, Jill Platt (Ray) of Salisbury, NC; grandchildren, Aubrey Pickler; Mason Ryan Whitley; and Cassandra Faye Pickler; great-grandchild, Huxley Wallace; and mother in law, Patricia McCombs.
There will be a memorial service held at 2pm on Friday, April 12, 2024 at Powles Staton Funeral, 913 W. Main St., Salisbury, NC 28138.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, www.stjude.org.
