Joseph Collins, affectionately known as Joe or Joey, was a man whose smile could instantly brighten any room. Born to Harold and Mary Cox on January 16, 1947, in the bustling heart of New York City, he was the beloved youngest brother to Delores and Harriet. Joe’s life was a tapestry interwoven with love, family, faith, a commitment to service, and an enduring spirit through times of loss. He left an indelible mark on the lives of those he touched – a beautiful and profound example of how a single life can touch others in ways both seen and unseen.
Joe’s dedication to his faith was evident from a young age, marked by his baptism during the historical International Convention of Jehovah’s Witnesses at Yankee Stadium in July 1958. Joe’s life was a living expression of his faith and enduring commitment. His steadfastness in the face of challenges, whether they came from governmental authorities or life’s unpredictable storms, was a testament to his strength and dedication to his faith. Joe’s ability to share and uphold his beliefs, and remain constant in a world of change, became a source of comfort and inspiration to those around him. As an elder, Joe guided many with kindness and wisdom. Hos love for Jehovah was unshakeable; it was the very essence of his being. The spiritual legacy Joe leaves behind is rich and profound. It is interwoven with the fabric of his family’s life, a legacy that has been passed down through generations.
On March 1, 1969 Joe began a lifelong journey of love and companionship alongside Kirsten Cummings. As a devoted husband, he embodied 55 years of unwavering commitment, deep love, and the sheer joy of cherishing her. As a father to Kyle, Rahsaan, and Sakiem, he provided valuable insights, guided their growth, and nurtured them with a blend of firmness, gentleness, and encouragement. Joe’s wisdom and nurturing spirit extended to his grandsons – Bridgier, Calvin, Jalen – and even reached his great-grandson Liam. His caring spirit also touched nieces, nephews, cousins, and his daughter-in-laws. His life was a service of thoughtful sacrifices to ensure his family’s happiness and well-being.
As we say goodbye, we celebrate a life beautifully lived and a heart generously shared. His story does not end here; it lives on in the memories he created, the wisdom he imparted, and the love he spread.

Guillory Family says
To the loved ones of Joseph Collins:
Although we did not have the privilege of knowing Brother Collins in this system, we sincerely hope to meet him under far better conditions to exist in paradise. (Rev. 21:4) We pray that Jehovah’s promises, which we know cannot fail, will support and strengthen each of you until reunited with him in the not-too-distant future. (Job 14:14,15; John 5:28,29 (a)).
With all of our love and heartfelt prayers,
