Retired Army Reserve Major Harold Dean Armstrong, 80, of Kannapolis, NC passed from this earth on June 4,2024 after battling alzheimers/dementia.
Harold was born in Charlotte, NC in 1943 to Hall Edgar and Grace Inez Armstrong. He graduated from North Mecklenburg high school in 1962 and then joined the United States Army Reserve in 1965 where he completed 21 years of honorable service including being a member of the 82nd Airborne Division, a drill sergeant, Army Ranger, and proud graduate of Officer Candidate school. Harold’s civilian life included service with Planters Peanuts, Austin Foods, and The Kellogg Corporation. He enjoyed studying history, playing golf, and watching the Atlanta Braves and Carolina basketball.
Harold is survived by daughter, Teresa Armstrong of High Point, NC; son, Gary Armstrong and wife, Tanya of Kannapolis, NC; granddaughters, Christina Angus and Kenzie Armstrong of Kannapolis; great grandson, Chrystian Pineda of Kannapolis; and brother, Lanny Armstrong of Harrisburg, NC.
A service of remembrance will be held at Redemption Church of Concord, NC on June 14, 2024 from 11am-1pm.
