Bobby Joe Owen, 91, of Lexington, passed away Monday, August 26, 2024 at the Novant Glenn A. Kiser Hospice House in Salisbury. He was born on April 15, 1933 in Davidson County to the late John Owen and Lula Spry Owen.

Bobby worked as a Heavy Equipment Operator in the Construction industry and he enjoyed working outside, including in his shop where he spent much of his time. He loved running heavy equipment and his farm tractor. He had a deep love for his family and his church family.

In addition to his parents, Bobby was preceded in death by his sisters, Dorothy Smith and Jane Hege, and brothers John H Owen, James Owen, Tommie Owen, and great granddaughter, Emory Hawkins.

Bobby is survived by his wife Doris Koonts Owen of Lexington; a son Keith Owen (Sue), and daughters Lou Murray, Cindy Grentzinger, and Lisa Hughes (Rick). He is also survived by 7 grandchildren,  and 12 great grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, September 6th at 11:00 AM at Jersey Baptist Church in Lexington, conducted by Rev. Paul Batson, Rev. Megan Hager, and Rev. Mike Collier. The family will receive friends and family at the church prior to the service at 10:00 AM in the multipurpose building.
