Shelia Farrell (63), of Charlotte, NC passed away on November 1, 2024 at Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center peacefully and surrounded in love by her family. Born on April 22, 1961 to Addie and Ethel Hayes in Doerun, GA. Shelia attended Colquitt County high school. At the age of 16 she met Bobby Farrell, whom she wed on May 26th 1980. They started a family and began traveling the globe in support of Bobby’s military career. Following the military stint, they opted to make Charlotte, NC home. Shelia went on to create a life filled with laughter, and unwavering support for those she cared about.
Shelia attended Brookstone College and received a degree in business. She enjoyed a successful career in various customer driven roles, where her love for helping others shone brightly. All who crossed her path felt her kindness and compassion. She never met a stranger, and was always willing to provide for the needs of anyone. One of her favorite things to do was create care kits and pass them out to the homeless in the city.
Following retirement, Shelia picked up a love for Pickle-ball. She was affectionately known as the Pickle Ball Queen. She played with enthusiasm and a desire to learn skills to have a better game. She was also a natural caregiver, always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Whether she was offering a kind word or sharing her time, her generosity and selflessness left an indelible mark on the lives of those around her.
Above all, Shelia adored spending time with her family and friends. Whether it was gathering for a meal, sharing stories, or simply being in each other’s company. Shelia valued the time spent with loved ones more than anything. Her love for good food and great conversation was the backdrop to many happy moments, where laughter and love always filled the air.
In addition to her parents, Addie and Ethel Hayes, Shelia was preceded in Eternal Rest by her siblings, Willie West, Charles Hayes, and Sandra Hayes.
Shelia is lovingly remembered by her Husband Bobby Farrell, Sister Annie Wise, Son Cedric Farrell, Daughter Shionda Farrell, Daughter Kameetrice Farrell, Granddaughter Justice Hunt, Niece and close Friend Penny White, and a host of other nieces, nephews and friends.
Rest in Peace, Shelia. You will FOREVER be loved.

Gone but will never ever be forgotten. In dark days Mrs Sheila was a bright light! From her care bags to her thoughtful messages. She was a pillar of motivation, support and love. We planned on going to Love in Action vegan restaurant which I will still do in her memory and honor and even plan to learn how to play her beloved Pickleball. Mrs Sheila raised wonderful children and has an amazing network of family & friends. She will be missed dearly by all that had the pleasure of knowing her.

Dear Ma,
There are no words that could fully capture the love I feel for you, or the emptiness I now carry.
You were one of my biggest cheerleaders supporting me in every dream, every step, and every stumble. No matter what I was going through, you were always there, ready with love and encouragement. You believed in me before I ever believed in myself, lifting me up even on the hardest days. If you got word I wasn’t feeling well or I needed you, you always came to my rescue.
Your presence filled my life more than you know! I will never feel a love like yours again that was constant & selfless. A mom you only get those treasure’s once & I’m grateful for who god sent us.
Thank you, Mom, for being my everything. I’ll hold you close in my heart & I’m forever grateful for all the ways you loved me. I miss you more than words can say.

Sheila was 2 years old when we moved from Moultrie Ga to Newark NJ. I did not see her again until 1979 when I transferred from Diamond State Telephone Company to Southern Bell in Atlanta.
The weekend Sandra, Reginald & Regina drove to Doerun after my move Sheila was on the front porch dancing as she sweep the front porch. My little cousin was now a beautiful young lady full of pure joy.
I moved back to Delaware in 1981 with a heart full of gratitude and love to the family I had the opportunity to love up close and personal.
Over the years I brought my mother to visit Aunt Doll and the family and we also connected at family reunions in Emporia VA at uncle Sonny’s house. Always mini reunions.
Sheila and I talked often sharing what was going on in our lives. When we talked on the phone I always sang the first line of Prince song Oh Oh Sheila! It always put a smile on our face and in our hearts. We always acknowledge that we needed to hear something that each of us shared. We left the phone calls in good spirits. Sheila and I kept each other in prayer.
We were looking forward to a visit from Sheila and began the conversation in June 2024. Sheila was coming to spend time with her sister Annie and in Delaware with us. We talked about things we would do and places we would visit during her visit. Sheila promised me she would stay for a long time.
I miss you Sheila and love you dearly. You will always have a special place in my heart.❤️ Praying for our family.

Shelia was more like a sister to me. We laughed, we talked, we sang, and we walked together. But more importantly we understood each other, and we knew when to share advice and when to just listen. Sleep on my friend and take your rest. Although we love you, God loves you best. So just rest in the Saviours arms. My prayers to the family and especially Bobby during this time of bereavement. My heart is heavy right now, but I know that Shelia is in a much better place. I strive to be a blessing to others like she was to me. There will never be another friend to me like she was, not here in this world..

To my first and longest love ,
Words can’t express how thankful I am that I was luckily enough to call you mom. You were the most steadfast friend that I had. Through every high and every low, you were always there, unwavering in your support.
You demonstrated what agape love truly is. You showed me what it means to long for God, to live with compassion, and how to embrace joy in life. There’s no way to fully express all the ways you were the PERFECT mom.
Life feels incomplete without you. I miss our daily calls, our conversations about the Bible, hearing the play by play of your pickle ball games, your laughter, your hugs, I miss everything about you. You will FOREVER be on my mind and in my heart.
You did not get a lot of rest here on earth, so I find peace in knowing you are now resting well. I love you ALWAYS!
Until we meet again ….XOXO

Ms. Sheila, or “Ma,” as I affectionately called her, was a woman of extraordinary kindness, grace, and love. As a close friend of her daughters growing up, I was blessed to know her and witness the warmth and care she shared so generously with everyone around her. She had a way of making you feel like family, and her gentle spirit left a lasting impression on all who knew her.
I’ll always hold fond memories of her sweet smile and the joy she brought to every interaction. Even as the years went by, whenever I saw her, she greeted me with the same heartfelt sincerity that made her unforgettable.
Ms. Sheila will be deeply missed, but her love and legacy will live on through the countless lives she touched. My thoughts and prayers are with her husband, Bobby, and her children, Cedric, Kametris, and Shionda, during this time of loss. May they find comfort in the beautiful memories and the immense love she shared with all who knew her.
