Shelby Lee Hill, cowboy, artist, cook, soldier, cancer survivor, husband, father, grandpa, and friend to many died on March 26, 2025.
He was the essence of kindness, always putting himself second to the needs of others. He shared his knowledge of watercolor, giving classes to retired folks and all who wanted to learn. Shelby’s great sense of humor was enjoyed by those who knew him. He loved horses and had a way with dogs. He stood tall and handsome in his western boots and cowboy hat.
Shelby loved to cook and made many fine meals for his family and friends. He is famous for his delicious soups and would deliver them to shut-ins with his chef hat on and a smile. He battled serious cancer and faced the difficult protocol with courage and faith and rarely complained.
He was a soldier in the Army and served in Germany as a communications expert. Shelby was a character who loved when he got a deal and loved when he could be of help to someone in need.
Sadly left behind is his wife Judith, his daughter and son-in-law, Emily and Josh Breehl, his beloved grandchildren Mason, Wyatt and Maddox. Additionally, his sister Sharon and brother-in-law Robert Frischkorn, as well as two cherished friends Michele and Ted Crandall (whom he regarded as close family).
Shelby lived with courage and love for all. He was a Christian who loved the Lord and read his bible every morning. Many people will gather at St. Stephens United Methodist Church on April 26, for a celebration of his unique and beautiful life.
