Delmar Lois Gorman, 96, of Rockwell, passed away Wednesday, April 16, 2025 at Glenn A. Kiser Hospice House in Salisbury surrounded by his loving family.

He was born February 19, 1929 in Montauk, MO to the late Ervin and Tella James Gorman.

Delmar developed his passion for farming at a young age, working in the fields of California. He later did carpentry work until he moved to North Carolina in 1954, where he worked for Reds Amoco in China Grove. During his time there, he met the Shive family, where he finished his career tending to the dairy farm and the gardens at the Shive’s farm. This is where he later made his home and lifelong friends, with the family of Bob and Carolyn Shive, their children Brent and Cathye and their children.

In addition to his parents, Delmar was preceded in death by his brothers, Edward, Alfred, Frank, Eyul, Ernest Ray, and Donnie Gorman; sister, Velma Price; granddaughter, Connie Gorman Eagle, and friend, Bob Shive.

Delmar is survived by his family; son, Duane Gorman (Vickie); daughter, Linda Workman (Jim); four grandchildren, Sherry Hines (David), Lisa Coley (Danny, Sr.), Ashley McDonald (Chris) and Neal Gorman; ten great-grandchildren, Justin Hines (Amber), Casey Benge (Mike), Danny Coley, Jr., Katie, Kendall and Alston Gorman, Christian and Cameron Eagle, Gracie and Cayden McDonald and seven great-great-grandchildren; sister, Lorraine Crabtree; brother, Leroy Gorman.

A celebration of life to honor Delmar will be held on Sunday, April 27 at 3:00 PM at the Shive Family Farm (1617 Shuping Mill Road, Rockwell, NC 28138).

The family would like to express their love and appreciation to the Shive family over the years, Delmar is now doing what he loved best, working in his heavenly garden.
