Let the family know you care by sharing this tribute.

It is with unfathomably heavy hearts that we announce the death of Wanda Gail Lee Moroney, 59, of Davidson, North Carolina.
Wanda was born on January 21, 1966 in Charlotte to the late Ralph and Mildred Lee. She grew up on Untz Rd. in Concord, where she enjoyed bicycle rides, outdoor adventures, and spending time with her siblings and neighborhood friends. She graduated from Northwest Cabarrus High School in 1984 and Concord Beauty College in 1985.
For many years, Wanda worked magic from behind a salon chair; she was a very skilled hair color specialist and stylist, always on the cutting edge of new trends and techniques. Those of us who have had the experience of having our hair done by Wanda for many years will likely never have as good a haircut as the ones she’s given us. While she was committed to the technical aspects of her craft, she cared even more deeply for her clients as individuals, and many who sat in her salon chair became close friends and chosen family through the years.
Wanda will be remembered for her warm smile, striking sense of humor, boundless creativity, stunning red hair, and endless supply of interesting facts. Some of Wanda’s favorite things in life were pool days, beach trips, home DIY projects, and time with her rescue dogs.
Wanda was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph H. Lee and Mildred (Mittie) Spurling Lee, as well as her dear friend, Amy Murphy Welch.
Wanda is survived by her children, Alyssa Putt of Durham and Shaina Putt of Monroe. She is further survived by her sisters: Sherri Hartsell, Donna Boone, and Teresa Blake. Also left to mourn Wanda are many extended or chosen family members and lifelong friends.
The family will host a service at 10 am Saturday, November 22nd at United Love Baptist Church in Midland. A visitation with the family will follow. Per Wanda’s wishes, her ashes will be scattered in places she loved by those who loved her.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to The Ada Jenkins Center, CVAN, NAMI, or another organization working to provide safety, stability, and support to vulnerable community members or those living with mental illness and addiction.
If you are living with addiction or mental illness, you are never alone, and recovery is possible.
Carolina Cremation is assisting the Moroney family. Online condolences may be made at www.carolinacremation.com.

Untz Road! It was a dirt back then and very few homes, we rode our bicycles 🚲 up and down this road, to met up
Often doing each other’s hair, baking in Wanda’s small play oven
We were really cool 😎 kids!
All my love to the family! Prayers for healing

My earliest memories have Wanda in them. They hadn’t been there too long when we moved to Untz Rd. It wasn’t long til we both were fixtures in each other’s house taking turns on whose house we would stay. Many days of bike riding, easy bake oven and our figurines in the sand box in the cove. Fast forward to highschool, and marriage and kids. You were always there. I never thought I’d never see you again. I love you my precious friend. You’ll always be my sister from another mother, forever.

I spent many years with Wanda and her family , growing up together from 3rd grade up. My heart was heavy to hear this. We were like 2 peas in a pod – where you seen her you seen me and vise versa. We had a lot of fun growing up together. The memories I cherish. Life changes as we all know but I have always loved her and we were such a team. Sherri, Donna and Teresa – I have not seen you in years but I pray for you and ask God to give you peace. I know Wanda is at rest now with Jesus.

My first memory of Wanda was OMG !!! I’ve just met the Red headed Marilyn Monroe in stilettos 👠 I was in AWE …. We worked together at Hair Fitness Salon , then on to The Executive Salon . We were instant friends and became inseparable. From the Myrtle Beach hair show ( where the phrase “ Kissing Fresh “ was born ) that was our slogan ! We met Canadian rock band that was staying at our hotel then it was off to Toronto to see them preform 2 months later . We were 2 girls in our 20’s living our best lives 🎉 Happy Times indeed ❤️🎉
And as time would have it we both got married, kids etc. time passes and ended up going in different directions . My heart is heavy with this news of her passing….. Wanda was a beautiful soul inside and out ,❤️ Rest in Peace my friend, I love you 🙏🏻❤️
