Joyce Ann Russell Steinert

Ann died on April 2, 2026 at the Matthews Glen retirement community (formerly Plantation Estates), in Matthews, NC.

She was born June 8, 1936 in Troy, Montgomery County, NC. Parents were Alonzo Russell and Daisy Stirewalt Russell, who predeceased their daughter.

Ann graduated from Presbyterian Hospital of Nursing and Pheiffer College. During her nursing career, she served in the U.S. Air Force, at Presbyterian Hospital, at Charlotte Memorial Hospital, and for Interim Health, a home care business. In 1995, she married Jeff Steinert, who predeceased her in 2018. Ann and Jeff lived in Charlotte and Fort Mill. They enjoyed traveling and many activities, including a move to Plantation Estates retirement community in 2004.

Ann enjoyed friendships with several other retired nurses and listened to Christian messages and music. In her remaining years of life, she continued to nurture those special friendships. Leaning on her education and experience, conversations of a medical nature with staff who
participated in her care were important.

Ann is survived by a stepdaughter, Susan Fretts, a step granddaughter, Adah Thompson, and a step great granddaughter.
