Larry “Lars” Lawrence Carter Jr., 61, of Statesville, passed away Wednesday, June 3, 2026.

Lars was born on January 14, 1965 in Iredell County during a 14” snowstorm to the late Larry Lawrence Carter and Sarah Montgomery Carter Williams. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Penny Moore.

He graduated from South Iredell High School and was a member of the Foresters Chorus. He served his country in the United States Navy on the USS Nimitz. He loved his dog, Sissy, and spent his time reading and writing science fiction. He enjoyed fishing, camping, and most recently working at local country store.

Lars is survived by his brother Scott Carter (Tammy), sisters; Melissa Carter Beaver (Mike), Angela Carter Shelton, several nieces, a nephew, several great nephews, and a special Aunt, Sandra Josey.
