In Loving Memory of Lenora Jeanne Summers | Sunrise 11/10/1967-Sunset 08/10/2026
Lenora Jeanne Summers, aged 58, passed away peacefully at the Hinkle Hospice House in Davidson County leaving behind a legacy of selfless love and unwavering strength.
For nearly 30 years, Lenora was a childcare teacher dedicating her life by pouring into the children of the Lexington community, both professionally and in her personal life. Lenora’s memory is cherished by her three children, Austin Summers (and spouse Kristen “Simone” Leverette), Avery Matthews, and Ayla Matthews, her seven grandchildren, Jordan Summers, Ny’Mir Leverette, Jaiden Summers, Jayla Summers, Malachi Matthews, Kinsley Bell, and Kaydence Matthews. To know Lenora was to know an open door, open arms, and an open heart to all those in need. The impact of her legacy extends far beyond her immediate family earning her a cherished place in so many hearts as a second mother. So many of the Lexington community know her simply as “mom.”
Her love knew no boundaries, and she proudly embraced her bonus children: Lawrence “LJ” Wilson, Kevin Trimpey, Kenrick Jobe, John Coble, Brandon Holmes, Shakeria McIntosh, Marquez Grayson, and Michael Wright Jr., alongside a multitude of additional bonus children whom she loved as her own.
Lenora’s greatest pride and joy in her life was her family, particularly her grandchildren. Before passing she left a special message to be passed along to the grandkids. The message verbatim reads “Every kid is so different, and I love my grandkids. I don’t want them to think that one is better than the other or anything like that. I love each of them the same, and I always will.”
Details regarding Lenora’s celebration of life will be released at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to Alderwood of Davidson County, formerly known as Hospice of Davidson County.

Sorry for loss, my condolences to you all. I worked with Lenora at Davidson Daycare years ago and she would go over and beyond for the kids there as well as the staff. She truly was a great person.

My heart goes out to your family I know their going to be some missed moment or moment you want to see your beautiful mother I had a pleasure of working beside her as a childcare worker she taught me how to be a good teacher and how to nurture them with love and understanding. It was impossible to know Lenora without knowing just how deeply she adored her children and her grandchildren. They were her true happiness, her reason for fighting so hard, and the absolute crown of her life. She gave you all a blueprint of what it means to love without limits. The sacrifice and devotion she showed as a mother and grandmother are gifts that time can never take away. Her love is woven directly into the fabric of your family, giving you strength even in the darkest moments.
