Anna Marie Summers Cleveland, age 88, passed away peacefully on August 12, 2026, at Terra Bella Assisted Living in Salisbury, North Carolina after a lengthy battle with dementia.
Anna was born on June 18, 1938, in Henderson, Tennessee to Bynum Reed Summers and Elsie Pauline Files Summers. Anna was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Joe Summers, and her husband of 67 years, Dan.
She met Daniel Paul Cleveland in 8th grade, and they were married on August 29, 1958, in Jackson, Mississippi. They raised two children and resided in Land O’ Lakes, Florida for 43 years until they moved to Rockwell, North Carolina to be with family. Avid travelers, they spent 13 of their retirement years driving an RV from Florida to Alaska and alternating years to Nova Scotia. Anna was a loving wife, mother, and Nina to two granddaughters. At the age of 45, she went back to school to finish her college degree. She attended the University of South Florida in Tampa, winning USF’s Mark T. Orr Award for the outstanding senior in International Studies and made USF’s honor society and Phi Kappa Phi.
Survivors include: sister Judy Summers of Madison MS; daughter Kim Pollard of Land O’ Lakes FL; son Paul Cleveland and daughter-in-law Jacqueline Cleveland of Rockwell NC; granddaughters Lani Pollard of Cumberland MD, and Kacy Pollard and fiancé Michael Ottenberg of Land O’ Lakes FL; step-grandkids Brock Earle, and Winter Croom; great-granddaughter Aliyah Gibson; and nine Cleveland nieces and nephews.
