Martha Elizabeth Blackwelder Bolick, 89, of Mount Ulla, passed away unexpectedly at her home on August 8, 2026.
Mrs. Bolick was born on June 19, 1937, in the family home in Mecklenburg County, NC the late Lewis Franklin and Elma King (Miller) Blackwelder. She was their eldest daughter.
Mrs. Bolick graduated from Harrisburg High School in 1955, where she was voted “most courteous.” In the 1960s, she met Clayton Ray Bolick at a square dance. They were married on October 22, 1969. From the mid 1980s through the late 1990s, Mrs. Bolick was a custodian at Mt. Ulla Elementary School. She retired in 1999 but remained a volunteer at Mt. Ulla for many years. Even after her own grandchildren became students there. After her retirement, she began cleaning the houses of those within her community-including the Mt. Ulla Post Office. She became lifelong friends with many of the people she cleaned house for.
Throughout the years, Mrs. Bolick was a caregiver to her many relatives & friends. When someone was sick, or just had an operation, or had an elderly relative that needed to be cared for, or even just needed someone to house sit for them, Martha was always there.
In addition to her parents, Martha was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ray and all six of her brothers, Edward, Gene, Carl, Bill, Hoyte, and LJ.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Anita Martinez and Randy Bolick; her treasured grandchildren, Taylor Holder and Clayton Martinez; her precious great-grandson, Colton Holder; her sisters, Mae Pope and Elaine Miller; sister-in-law, Maria Blackwelder; aunts, Dianne Hudson and Sharon Ritchie; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Martha Elizabeth Blackwelder Bolick left an amazing legacy that will forever remain in the hearts and minds of her beloved family and her cherished friends.
Visitation and a celebration of life will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Ebenezer Church of Mt Ulla, (8425 NC 801 Hwy, Mt. Ulla, NC 28125), of which she was a member. Rev. Mark McRacken will officiate.
Mrs. Bolick will be laid to rest at the Salisbury National Cemetery Annex at a later date.
