Barbara Ann Bucher, 76, of Lexington, passed away Thursday, August 13, 2026 at Hinkle Hospice House (Alderwood of Davidson County) in Lexington.
She was born October 19, 1949 in Norwalk, OH to the late Frank and Ruth (Bickley) Brown. Barb grew up in Luckey, OH and In 1967 she graduated from Eastwood High School in Pemberville, OH. In high school Barb loved singing and playing the saxophone in the marching, rally and concert bands. She wanted to be a nurse from an early age and after high school Barb attended Flower Hospital School of Nursing in Toledo, OH and then graduated from Kent State University with an Associate’s Degree in nursing. She loved being a nurse and was a cardiac care/ICU and traveling nurse during her long career. Barb had an adventurous spirit and lived in Florida, Indiana, Texas, California and finally settling in North Carolina. She was passionate about many things including The Ohio State Buckeye’s, the Indianapolis 500 (where she volunteered for 17 years), NASCAR and Bingo – especially Music Bingo. Barb was exceptionally creative – excelling in anything she undertook – most recently quilting, where she enjoyed teaching and well as making beautiful quilts, table runners…anything that could be quilted. She loved her furry companions and they brought her great joy.
Barb was preceded in death by her parents and is survived by her daughter, Erin (Clay) Janes, granddaughter Zoe of Portland, OR and sister, Diane Brown-Hatzi (Chris) of Tualatin, OR.
Barb’s family is grateful for the love and support of her friends-especially the Walser family, for Carolina Senior Care for all they did to help her live independently, and to Alderwood of Davidson County – Hinkle House Hospice for their exceptional end of life care.
